FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Lymphedema And Our Practice

Lymph?

Lymph is the fluid that flows throughout our body to keep our bodies in balance. Lymph travels via lymphatic vessels and touches every system in our body.

Lymphatic System ?

The lymphatic system keeps fluid levels in check, helps us fight infection, removes waste and toxins, and delivers nutrients throughout our bodies.

Lymphedema ?

Lymphedema is the dysfunction or chronic condition that develops when lymph fluid builds up, creating swelling within our tissue and under our skin. It can occur for a number of reasons, when the system gets out of whack – after surgery, physical trauma, cancer treatments, or because of an autoimmune response. When treated and addressed early it can be an acute dysfunction that is reversible but untreated it can turn into a progressive chronic condition that may need lifelong management.

What is lymphatic health focused manual therapy and why do I need it?

The focus of lymphatic therapy is to physically relocate the lymph back to its proper areas for drainage and to allow for continued flow through the lymphatic system. Consistent flow, keeps Lymph clean and nutrient rich, creating an overall more balanced state for all your systems. Our practitioners use various hands-on techniques to address areas of dysfunction, blockage, or trauma to allow the lymphatic system to maintain the equilibrium in your body.

The benefits of lymphatic intervention include improved lymphatic flow, improved circulation, a boosted immune system, better overall movement of joints, and decreased swelling/puffiness. Even better, these lymphatic techniques can support in your overall healing, boosting your mental well-being, and improving your overall quality of life.

Who Can Benefit?

ALL OF US CAN! Good lymphatic health sets the tone for increased general well being and health. While most of our clients have had breast mastectomies, reconstruction, or cosmetic surgeries, we also treat those with auto-immune disorders, lasting effects of chemotherapy, or neurological conditions. In addition, we have found lymphatic interventions work remarkably well with our athletic clients who are looking for a quick turnaround time from training or competition.

How Many Sessions?

It primarily depends on your needs, diagnosis, and goals of care. Our focus is not just to treat the physical needs but also to empower your involvement in your care to ENSURE LONG TERM SELF CARRYOVER. We strive to meet you where you are at in your journey and partner with you in trying to formulate a course of care that best meets your lymphatic needs. Our hope is to equip you with STRATEGIES FOR YOU TO CONTINUE YOUR HEALING at home.

Health Insurance Cover It?

We are passionate about protecting the individualized, YOU-focused, dynamic care of each treatment session. Each treatment session is 100% one-on-one and literally hands-on solely focused on YOU.

Therefore we are NOT ABLE TO ACCEPT INSURANCE at this time.

Taking the insurance company out of the equation frees us from following generic, formulaic paths to reach your lymphatic health goals.

If you are prescribed “manual lymphatic drainage” by your physician, we can provide you with a Superbill to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. However, our office does not file claims or conduct business with any insurance companies.
